Location 
Bulgaria is located in Southeastern Europe, on
the Balkan Peninsula, extended on an area of 111000 sq.m with population of
about 9 million. |

| History
In the 7th century the Balkan Peninsula was inhabited with Slav
tribes and later the proto - Bulgarian cavalry of Han Asparuh stopped there. The year was
681 when the first page of Bulgaria's history was open. At that time there were only three
states in Europe: The Western Roman Empire, The Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium) and Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian land was an ancient crossroad. |

Bulgaria's history retains the memory of Byzantine rule, as well as a state extending
to three seas, of the heights of Tarnovgrad, as well as of the ashes left after the
Ottoman conquerors. Five centuries of Turkish domination finally sparked the National
Revival period and national liberation movement. |
